About the foundation
From the hills in the northeast to the fertile alluvial soil of the Delta, and down to the Mississippi Gulf Coast – the Magnolia State offers residents and visitors endless outdoor opportunities. Whether you enjoy hunting, fishing, boating, birdwatching, or simply being outdoors, there is something for everyone.
In 2003, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) established a foundation to assist in protecting and preserving our state’s rich wildlife heritage. Now known as the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries, Parks, Marine Foundation (MWFPM Foundation), we are the only organization that directly supports both the MDWFP and the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR), which has primary responsibility for marine resources and coastal conservation.
Through the Foundation’s financial support, various wildlife, marine, and educational projects associated with MDWFP and MDMR are made possible. We also help fund many additional programs that share the goal of preserving and protecting Mississippi’s natural resources—both inland and along our coast.
Program Highlight
Support the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Black Bear Program. Donations can be used by MDWFP to purchase additional tracking collars, traps, and other tools for monitoring and improving MS’s black bear population.
